Careers in Construction month

A national campaign to increase public awareness of construction careers

and inspire the next generation of craft professionals.

Careers in Construction Month (CICM) is a nationwide initiative of Build Your Future (BYF). Held every October, CICM seeks to increase public awareness of construction careers, inspire the next generation of craft professionals and make an impact on the perceptions of a career in construction.

Construction Traveling Roadshow
As part of CICM, the Construction Careers Council
has taken the pledge to help promote positive perceptions of the industry and create meaningful connections with youth. And that is how the construction traveling roadshow was born!

Construction Inclusion Week (Oct 16-20)
The council is also participating in Construction Inclusion Week, an initiative to build awareness of the need to improve diversity and inclusion in the construction industry by providing content and resources. Do you know  someone from an underrepresented population who works in the industry?  Celebrate their contributions to the industry with a nomination!  They will be featured on our website for the year.

Construction traveling roadshow

Employers involved in the Construction Traveling Roadshow will travel to local schools (K-12 and postsecondary) to speak to students about career paths in the industry, perform a live demonstration of some aspect of the work they do, and answer questions. These simple interactions make a big impact on students and have the power to shape their futures!

Ready to hit the road?

Help promote the construction industry and give students a chance to explore construction as a career option. The council has created the following outline, step-by-step instructions, and list of resources to help you plan your roadshow!
