The Construction Career Pathways program offers 6-12 graders opportunities to explore construction careers through in-school presentations, training provider visits and job site experiences. No matter where students are on their career exploration journey, these events will provide excellent opportunities to begin or deepen their understanding of construction careers.
This helps students make informed decisions about their future while giving businesses an opportunity to connect with local students interested in construction. Businesses play a vital role in developing tomorrow's workforce. This program allows them to connect with students and showcase their company and the specific skills they look for when recruiting.
By educating young people about our industry, we are creating pathways to high-demand careers that benefit our entire region.

Is there a cost to participate?There is no cost for schools or employers. The program is funded through industry partnerships to remove financial barriers to participation.

How are transportation and liability concerns handled for off-site visits?Schools are responsible for transportation arrangements, while our program provides safety protocols that meet educational requirements for all off-site activities.

What safety measures are in place for job site visits?All job site visits include safety orientations, proper PPE provided to students, designated safe viewing areas, and supervision by both educators and construction professionals.

Can employers participate in just one part, or must they commit to all three?Employers can choose to participate in any or all parts based on their capabilities and preferences. Many start with classroom presentations and expand their involvement over time.

How are students selected for training provider visits and job site experiences?Schools identify students. We suggest giving priority to students who have expressed career interest in construction or currently enrolled in construction courses.

What preparation is required before participating?We provide an Employer Toolkit and an Educator Toolkit to provide easy to follow guidelines. A brief orientation session is offered to help businesses tailor their approach to student audiences.

How can schools align this program with career readiness standards?The program is designed to fulfill multiple career readiness standards, including career exploration, and professional skills development.

What outcomes can be expected from participation?Schools report increased student interest in construction careers, improved understanding of career pathways, and higher engagement in related coursework from similar experiences.
